The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) is a central recruitment agency under the ownership of Ministry of Finance , Government of India that was started with an aim to encourage the recruitment and placement of young undergraduates, postgraduates and doctorates at the rank of Group ‘A’ officer, Group ‘B’ officer, Group ‘C’ employee (clerk) in Nationalised banks and Regional rural banks in India.
BANK POSTS
- IBPS PO/MT exam takes place for the recruitment of Probationary Officers and Management Trainees’ in the participating banks, which are national public sector banks.
- IBPS SO exam takes place for the recruitment of Specialist Officers, which are Scale-I officers in the national public sector banks.
- IBPS Clerk exam takes place for the recruitment of clerks in the national public sector banks.
- IBPS RRB Officer Scale-I exam takes place for the recruitment of Scale-I Officers in Regional Rural Banks, this post is equivalent to Probationary Officers post in National Public Sector Banks.
- IBPS RRB Office Assistant exam takes place for the recruitment of Office Assistant in Regional Rural Banks, this post is equivalent to Clerk post in National Public Sector Banks.
- IBPS RRB Officer Scale-II and Scale-III exam takes place for the recruitment of Scale-II and Scale-III Officers in Regional Rural Banks, the post of Officer Scale-II is equivalent to Specialist Officer post and Officer Scale-III post is equivalent to Senior Manager in National Public Sector Banks.
STAGES OF EXAMS and Selection Process
- Preliminary
The preliminary exam of IBPS is an online exam testing a candidate on the basis of their aptitude, intellect and English. There are three sections in total and the candidate must clear the cut-off of each section to proceed to the mains exam round.
- Mains
IBPS Clerk Mains Exam will now constitute of 190 questions that need to be completed in a time frame of 160 minutes.
The IBPO PO Main exam is also conducted online, it has 5(4+1) sections with a total score of 200+25 marks and total duration of 180+30 minutes. IBPS will be conducting a descriptive paper in its mains exam for selection of candidates to the post of Probationary Officer. The sections must be attempted in the same order and the allotted time as mandated at the time of the exam.

Eligibility
Bank Clerk:
- Graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised university or any equivalent qualification recognised by the central government.
- Age limit 20 to 28years (as per government reservation for OBC, SC/ST)
Bank PO:
- Graduation with 60% in any discipline from a recognised university or any equivalent qualification recognised by the central government.
- Age limit 20 to 30years
